The Big 5 Series II bullion range will once again depict the elephant, followed by the lion, rhino, leopard and buffalo. The Big 5 Series II collection takes on a slight variation to the animal designs we have come to know and treasure. The design on the reverse of the coins in Series II remains the same as that of the previous designs in Series I. However, the common obverse of the coins take on a new look. The Big 5 bullion coin series will forever be a mark of craftsmanship, quality and the remarkable beauty of Africa's natural heritage.

Coin Designs
Obverse: Features an African elephant and coat of arms with inscriptions SOUTH AFRICA and BIG FIVE 2023.

Reverse: Features two halves of the animal's face. When two or more coins are placed next to one another, the animal's complete face is formed with inscriptions FIFTY RAND, 1 OZ and AU 999.9.
