Effigy Mounds National Monument
The Effigy Mounds National Monument quarter is the first released in 2017 and the 36th overall in the America the Beautiful Quarters Program. Effigy Mounds National Monument was first established as a national site in 1949 to protect one of the largest remaining concentrations of ancient American Indian earthworks in the United States.
The reverse image depicts an aerial view of mounds in the Marching Bear Group. Inscriptions include EFFIGY MOUNDS, IOWA, E PLURIBUS UNUM and 2017.

About the Program
