The United States Mint certifies that this coin is a genuine 2016 Mark Twain Gold $5, minted and issued in accordance with legislation passed by Congress and signed by the President on December 4, 2012, as Public Law 112-201. This coin was minted by the Department of the Treasury, United States Mint in commemoration of the literary and educational legacy of Samuel Clemens, better known as Mark Twain. This coin is legal tender of the United States.

Coin Designs
The obverse (heads side) design of the 2016 Mark Twain features a portrait of Mark Twain. Inscriptions are "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "2016."
The reverse (tails) depicts a steamboat on the Mississippi River. The inscriptions are "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," and "$5."
