The United States Mint's First Spouse gold bullion coins features a portrait on the obverse, and on the reverse a unique design symbolic of the spouses's life and work. In instances where a president held office without a first spouse, the coin bears "an obverse image emblematic of Liberty as depicted on a circulating coin of that era and a reverse image emblematic of themes of that President's life."
The United States Mint certifies that this coin was struck in accordance with legislation passed by Congress and signed by the President on December 22, 2005, as Public Law 109-145. This coin was produced by the Department of the Treasury, United States Mint. This coin is legal tender of the United States.

The obverse (heads side) design features a portrait of Mamie Eisenhower.
The reverse (tails) design features the image of a woman's hand holding a political campaign button with the slogan "I Like Mamie". This design refers to Mrs. Eisenhower's involvement in her husband's political campaign. Dwight D. Eisenhower had run for President under the slogan "I Like Ike" and while his wife accompanied him on whistle stop campaign tours, buttons reading "I Like Mamie, Too" had appeared.
