This coin was produced by the Department of the Treasury, United States Mint to commemorate the 400th Anniversary of Jamestown, Virginia, the first permanent English settlement in America.

The obverse (heads side) design of the 2007 Jamestown $5 Gold Coin features Captain John Smith greeting an American Indian carrying a bag of corn.
The reverse (tails) design is a current rendering of Jamestown Memorial Church, the only remaining original structure in Jamestown.
