The United States Mint certifies that this coin is a proof version of the one ounce American Buffalo Gold Bullion Coin. The Presidential $1 Coin Act of 2005 requires the Unites States Mint to strike and issue one ounce, .9999 fine, gold bullion coins. This coin is legal tender of the United States.

Coin Designs
The obverse (heads side) design of the American Gold Buffalo features a profile representation of a Native American and is based on the original design of the Buffalo nickel.

The reverse (tails) design is a representation of an American buffalo (also known as a bison).
