This coin was produced by the Department of the Treasury, United States Mint to commemorate the first convening of the Congress in the Capitol building.

Coin Designs
The obverse (heads side) design of the 2001 Capitol Visitor Center features the Old Capitol building in 1800 with the new Capitol in the background.
The reverse (tails) design features a contemporary interpretation of the U.S. Double Eagle.
