2000 US Leif Ericson Millenium Two (2) Coin Commemorative Set

The United States Mint certifies these coins as genuine 2000 Leif Ericson Millennium Commemorative Coins, the U.S. version and the Icelandic version, struck in accordance with legislation passed by Congress and signed by the President on December 6, 1999 into Public Law 106-126. These coins were produced by the Department of the Treasury, United States Mint in conjunction with the simultaneous minting and issuance of a commemorative coin on behalf of the Republic of Iceland in commemoration of the millennium of the discovery of the New World by Leif Ericson. The U.S. coin is legal tender of the United States. The Icelandic coin is legal tender of Iceland.

Obverse: Portrait rendered in the style of the coin issued by Iceland
Reverse: A Viking ship coming forward to the New World with Leif Ericson at the helm

* 2000-P Iceland 1000 Silver Kronur Proof
Obverse: An artist's interpretation of the statue of Leif Ericson made by Stirling Calder and presented to the Icelandic nation in 1930 by the United States Congress on the occasion of the 1000 year Anniversary of the Icelandic Parliament
Reverse: A stylish drawing of the Icelandic Coat of Arms representing the four guardians of Iceland, an eagle, a dragon, a giant and a bull, guarding the north, east, south and west of Iceland.
