This coin was produced by the Department of the Treasury, United States Mint to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the involvement of the United States in World War II.

The obverse (heads side) design of the 1993 World War II Gold $5 features an American GI with fist and rifle raised.
The reverse (tails) design features laurel branches surrounding "V" and corresponding Morse code symbol .
