This coin was produced by the United States Mint to commemorate the Games of the 25th Olympiad and to help support the United States Olympic movement.

The obverse (heads side) design of the 1992 Gold $5 Olympic features a runner in a burst of speed.
The reverse (tails) design features the Olympic Rings and an American Bald Eagle.
