The United States Mint certifies these coins as genuine United States Columbus Quincentenary Commemorative Coins, struck in accordance with legislation passed by Congress and signed by the President on May 13, 1992 into Public Law 102-281. These coins were produced by the United States Mint to commemorate the 500th Anniversary of Columbus' Discovery of the New World. These coins are legal tender of the United States.

Obverse: Columbus by a globe with ships in background
Reverse: Split image: Santa Maria and U.S. Space Shuttle Discovery

* 1992-S US Columbus Clad Half Dollar Proof
Obverse: Columbus landing in the New World
Reverse: Three ships: Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria
