This coin was produced by the Department of the Treasury, United States Mint to commemorate America's participation in the 1988 Olympic Games.

Coin Designs
The obverse (heads side) design of the 1988 Olympic Gold $5 features Nike, the goddess of Victory, crowned with an olive branch, with the word "Liberty."
The reverse (tails) design features a stylized Olympic Flame, below the U.S. Team logo.
