However, the basic features of the Maple Leaf have remained the same since 1979. The 2024 design features complex radial lines, micro-engraved laser mark and Bullion DNA Anti-Counterfeiting Technology. The small privy maple leaf is also a security feature, including the number 24 to signify the year of issue, micro-engraved into the surface. This security feature will only be visible under magnification.

Obverse: Features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Canadian artist Steven Rosati. Inscriptions include CHARLES III, 50 DOLLARS and 2024.

Reverse: Showcases the signature maple leaf so closely associated with Canadian nationalism and reflective of Canadian pride. Inscriptions include CANADA, 9999, FINE GOLD and 1 OZ OR PUR.
